Thanks for the info Laurens.  If after installing this driver, your screen goes red again - you can restart your computer in safe mode, and that will allow you to uninstall the driver without having to worry about dealing with a red-screen (safe mode uses the default Microsoft* driver, and thus would not have the same issue).  That being said, you may be better off using the latest driver provided by your OEM.  I can help you find it if you provide me the full model name of your system.  HP* DV7, and then a few numbers/letters should be the complete name.

It is good news, that the IRST software v12.5.0.1066 is working fine for your system, but you obviously do not have any optical drive connected with an Intel SATA port.

Intel App Center don't work anymore.

I tried first unininstall .Net Framework and new Installation but no change in situation.

I have this problem as well with the Optimizer crashing, both on Dell 3.5.0.1101 and Intel RSTe_3.6.0.1093.

How do I get 12.5.0.1066 to install?  I get a compatibility error when I run the installer...

[I have a Dell Alienware Aurora R4 that I have installed my Intel 520 240gb (firmware 400i) in as a boot drive (not a clean install, used Easus to copy the boot drive across) and then I have my other two hard drives in a RAID1 array as drive D.  ]

Hi everyone,

I have an issue with my desktop board Intel D525MW COM port. I was previously running windows 7 with devices on my COM1. Recently, I installed Windows 8 on an Intel SSD. After booting from Windows 8, COM1 on the motherboard was not recognized by any software, even though it was appearing in device manager. I tried booting from Windows 7, and the COM1 was working fine. Is there anything I can do to get Windows 8 to talk to the motherboard properly?

May have found the answer.  Raised Southbridge voltage 0.1 V.  It's too early to tell, but it seems to be crash proof.

So how is it ? Has this issue been fixed or not ?

I have buy a new Intel 520 SSD for my Macbook (late 2008). I've read that the 6Gbit SATA 3 speed of the SSD would be scaled down to SATA 2 speed because my Macbook doesn't support SATA 3. But my system currently operates at just SATA 1 speeds (only 1.5 Gbit are negotiated).

MyMacBookdoes notrecognizethe SSDwhenIinstalledit. Is there a newfirmware for theIntel520?

Good news. Have the 8087 to 8088 adapter in my system. Raid card wired up to it. Have the drives and all hooked up. Everything works.  Performance seems about the same. Not sure if one cable would work any different. Didn't try. Two issues kind if.

1. The 8088 cable slides into the adapter in my computer fine. On the back of the enclosure it's like an act of something to get it pushed all the way on. I think because the little piece Thant hangs down on the middle of the connectors on the backplane of the raid enclosure is more centered and the slot on the cable is off to one side. Goes in eventually but lots of pressure. Thoughts?
2. Figured it would be but this sucker is loud don't mind in my server room at work but this is at home. Any thoughts how to quiet it down?  Not sure how much the fans help since you have the hard drives that connect into a circuit boards "wall" in the case and then the fans are behind that circuit board wall.

The short version answer is: It's a known issue, currently without a fix and don't expect one to appear.

The longer version answer is: Intel SSD 520 and any Apple Macs with Nvidia MCP79 chipset BUG.
