This post has still not been answered adequately.
When the hardware OEM has complied and enabled the option WiDi will still not work under Windows7 Enterprise 64.
To prove this a standard Toshiba Tecra R850 has Windows 7 Pro 64 loaded. The drivers and widgets are installed and the WiDi works first time.
When the same hardware is wiped and Windows 7 Enterprise 64 is loaded and the same installation of drivers and widgets loaded in the same order - it does not work - at all.
Toshiba have not been able to say why it won't work, but have suggested the following:
" Win 7 Enterprise does not support WiDi due to the additional built in VPN security it has as part of the Base OS (Ie Enterprise does not need a VPN as this is built in, this could cancel out the connectivity protocols of WiDi as the TV / Adapter cannot make a secure connection to Win7 Enterprise to allow for HDCP to engage."
This is really important to us in order to allow completely wireless communication for presentations using in- built battery, WiFi and WiDi on laptops. But as our SOE is Windows 7 Enterprise 64 it seems to be no-go.
Any comments?
