Clone display problem - Intel HD 4000 Graphics

Hello all,

I have a very annoying problem - I have windows 8, Intel core i5 cpu @ 1.8 2.3 GHz, 4 GB RAM, and intel hd 4000 graphics card (laptop).

I have a very strange thing going on - from time to time the screen randomly it seem changes resolution, switching from the regular laptop mode to a square display, with the sides black. It can happen in every program - word, the desktop, contor panel - everywhere. Sometimes it jumps back and forth several times. And sometimes it takes time for the switch and in the mean time the screen is black.

This usually happens and then switches back to the normal resolution quickly. But a few times it remained in the square resolution long enough for me to see that another option appeared on the intel graphics and media control panel - 'output to' and there it has monitor, built-in display, clone display, extended desktop. For some reason 'clone display' is selected. When I select built-in display it reverts back to normal. It even happened a few times while writing this message. I have know idea why this happens. I never chose to change the output and never saw the 'clone display' option before this problem. I am pretty desperate because I haven't seen any option anywhere to prevent this. My drivers are up to date. I don't if I have a hardware or software problem (the computer is brand new).

When it switches back the regular display, the 'output to' option disappears from the intel graphics control panel.

I would very much appreciate any help.

Thank a lot,

Ivri
