Re: Intel DH87RL with Ubuntu is continuously rebooting when WOL is active

Hi all,

I can confirm the problem as described by Cristian. Yesterday, I updated the UEFI from version 0322 to 0323, but the problem persists. For now it is not possible to use WOL in combination with Linux on this board. The configuration details: Linux 3.8.0-19-generic (Linux Mint 15), DH87RL revision 401, Firmware 0323, a kit of two Kingston KVR16N11S8K2/8 (2 x 4GB)

The memory I used is to the least detail on Intels compatibility list for this board.

To trigger the problem:

  1. Enable WOL in UEFI or just load the defaults with F9, save.
  2. With the OS booted up normally, let the system enter suspend mode (S3).
  3. Wake up the system, the OS reappears normally.
  4. Shut down normally.

The computer will then power off first--all LED on the case are off. Three seconds later it will power on, even without any attached network cable.

I understand that Linux is not officially supported for the DH87RL. Intel is known as one of the most supportive companies towards open source, and this board gained huge popularity in Germany through the c't magazine. By delivering support over the top of official terms and product recommendations, you will reach a most loyal community of IT experts and decision makers. Do the math with sales numbers for DH87RL in Germay, media-invoked by c't magazine. So, Thank you very much, Sylvia and Intel forum staff!

If that would be of any help, I can check with newer Linux kernel versions, Windows 7 or 8.1. I have access to different memory modules (mostly Kingston), as well.

@ Sylvia_intel: If my testing could help you in any way, please let me know!
